ROAD TEST DUBAI - PASS!!!

I am soooooo happy!! I passed my Final Road Test by RTA! It wasn't as bad as what I heard.. Maybe I'm just lucky! I don't know.. I'm just so so happy!!!! After 28 classes, countless taxi rides, time , headache and nightmares, I pass and it feels AWESOME!

My Dubai Road Assessment Test Results.. PASS!! Honestly speaking, I do not know what is wrong with me.. I was really nervous and did a lot of stupid mistakes! There was 4 of us in the car and I was praying I did not have to go through the roundabout because I have no confidence in that.. guess what, I got the roundabout of course... ggrrrr... I did really badly :( All of us did some stupid mistakes but we are lucky that all of us passed the assesment test with the condition we had to take more lessons before we take the final road test. sigh..

I'm better than this.. She almost failed me but I pleaded that she give me a chance and pass me. Phew! Thank God my tester was a really nice arab lady. I am so grateful. The only thing that sucks is that I had to take another 8 more classes before I can actually go for my road test. Its another 480 dirhams. Ouch... well, its better than failling and taking another 20 classes I guess.

I will have another 8 classes and will have my final road test on the 2nd November. Hopefully I will do better and not let my nerve get to me! Good luck to anyone taking it as well!!

Getting My Driver's License in Dubai

I will be taking my assessment test tomorrow and I am soooooo nervous. Heard and read a lot of "bad experiences" people face and all the horror stories about not passing and how they purposely fail you in order to squeeze more money out of your pocket.

I am not fortunate enough to have my license converted. Since I have Malaysia's Driving License with experience more than 5 years, I am only required to take 20 classes  (10 indoor and 10 outdoor). Thank God for that! Each class last about 30 minutes and honestly you can't learn much in that short span of time. It cost about 60 dirhams per class!! Thankfully I bought my driving vouchers from Cobone .. 50% off ! hehe. Hopefully they won't puposely fail me because I only paid half the price of the classes!

Here are some tips on how to pass the road test that I got from my instructor and friends who finally passed their test after 5 attempts..

Driving License Test in Dubai - what are the DO and DON'Ts
1. Drive with confident and don't panic.
2. Remember to adjust your seat, mirrors and make sure you wear your seatbelt. Check on the dashboard that all doors are closed properly and ready to go.
3. Drive at a good speed -on main road is about 60km/hr / service rood 30 to 40.
4. Never forget your indicators and mirrors when maneuvering, turning, approaching the road or intersection
5. Don't change lanes unless you are asked to do so.
6. Never change lane until you do the 4 point check. Remember to check your mirror, signal, check your mirrors again, check your blindspot and mirrors again and then change the lane.
7. When you see a STOP sign, make a complete STOP.
8. Park your car parallel to the road when asked to parked by examiners. Never park in front of any entrance, gates or side roads. Always use hazard light when you park.

I am really nervous about driving tomorrow.. not because of my driving skills, but because I am afraid of the cost of failling. I pray I pass my test on my first attempt and not make stupid mistakes that will cost me a fortune. To those who will be taking their test - all the best!!! I hope these tips helps :) :)

Lock symbol with a circular arrow around it on iPhone status bar-SOLUTION!!

I was playing with my Iphone today and I'm not sure why there is a lock symbol with a circular arrow around it on iPhone status bar so I googled and found the solution!

A padlock with a circular arrow around it in the status bar at the top the screen means that the phone is locked to portrait mode and will not rotate to landscape mode .

This can be turned on and off by double clicking home so that your open apps are displayed then swiping these icons to the right until your iPod contols appear (it will be all the way to the left in your open apps), you should see an icon with a circular arrow. This icon is a toggle to lock and unlock your screen rotation.

Never ever help friends with money. EVER!

What do you do when you friend loan money and does not want to pay you back?

Senario

Your friend calls you up, begging you to help and loan them money then promises/ swears to pay back within a month or so.  After a month, no word about the payment.. you call them up, then you get excuses after excuses, sad story.. blah blah blah. Months and months after that, same old story. Emails, messages and calls still no results. Other friends thinks that you are being mean for pushing them to pay back when they have no money. You ended up losing money, time and friendship. The end.

Sounds familiar?

Well, I'm going through this and I am really really getting pissed off and impatient now. How frustrating! When they want money, they expect you to loan to them and promise you the world and say that you can trust them. When it comes to paying back, they avoid you and give you freaking lots of crap and excuses. What is your freaking problem? I'm done helping anyone especially friends. No wonder friends don't help friends anymore. It is because of people like this! You are just trying to help them when they really needed it the most and they just screw your life upside down. Many of my friends just ask me to treat it as a donation or as a total lost, lesson to be learned, but trust me, I'm not backing off. I will make sure I get every single cent back for the trust you have broken and making me feel like a fool for helping. If its a small amount, fine. But not this. No way.

Those who are in my position and in my shoes, you will understand what I am going through.. and those who conveniently loan money and just couldn't be bothered or even make an effort to pay back, shame on you. If you can't even control or plan your finances when you have the money, don't expect to just use other people especially friends to help you out when you have too much debts. When you have the money, you enjoyed, travel, buy a house and expensive car, and now, because of this, you are financially stucked and loan money just to carry on with your lavish lifestyle. Bravo!

I am really running out of ways to get my money back..  Thanks for being such a good friend.

Lost my IPhone 4!

My Iphone 4 got stolen... in my house... GREAT!! of all places... the thing is, I'm not even sure whether I misplaced it or its really stolen.. but after 3 nights of searching, crying and full of agony and crushed hopes, I'm pretty sure that my baby is gone forever :( *tears* If it has been misplaced, its really impossible that I cannot find it anywhere. I even looked for it in the fridge for goodness sake! :(

I'm not really heartbroken about the stolen phone... its the pictures, the data and all my personal contacts and details are stored on the phone.. my phone is like my daily PA. It helps me wake up, sings to me, enable me to chat with my family and friends and all my pictures.... just gone... I have 2 thousand over pictures from my trip back to Malaysia, pictures with my grandma and also pictures from my trip to Istanbul. Gone!!! This is really heartbreaking...

Set Password on Phone

The first thing that I regret not doing is setting a lock password on my phone! I am to blame of course, it just never strike me as something important, yeah.. the fact is that I'm too lazy to type my password everything I want to use the phone and I'm regreting it right now! I feel like my phone did not even have a fighting chance.. its too easy accessible, should had let the MF crack his head in order to use the phone instead of just giving it to them!

Apple has announced a new service called Find My iPhone that will allow iPhone owners to remotely locate their lost or stolen iPhones using the iPhone’s GPS. Find My iPhone will pinpoint the iPhone’s current location using Google Maps and let owners send and display a message on the iPhone even if it’s locked, presumably to provide information on how to return the phone to the finder of the phone. This application must be installed BEFORE you actually lost your phone. So, I guess its too late for me :(

Call your Service Provider

I called Etisalat to ask them whether they can track any outgoing calls etc, but unfortunately they are not able to help me, as usual. They said they won't be able to track or do anything about it. Got so angry, I just disconnect the line. Its better to just cut the losses instead of incurring a huge debts on the phone bills.

Make A Police Report

Honestly, I don't see there is any point in this... Went to the police station, they asked"what's your problem" and you said "lost phone". Feel kinda stupid reporting this because this is such a minor minor small crime! Well, they make u wait for an hour (this is what you get for wasting their time), make police report and that's it. They said they will call you but its unlikely that you can get your phone back. But sometimes, they might catch the guy, if the guy uses the phone with another sim card or something like that. I don't know.. well, its worth the try.

Buy Phone Insurance!
Whenever you purchase a phone, ask whether you can actually get your phone insured. Normally, they won't tell you about the insurance because if you lost the phone, means another business for them. Don't stinge on it, because you never know when you need it. Well, no.. my phone is not insured... so its a total lost for me :( :(


It sucks to lose my phone... seriously, how could anyone just take other people's belongings?! no respect at all! I'm still moaning about my lost and I hope I will find it somewhere somehow... I really do...

What has become of Malaysia? I had been away for ages... at the back of my mind, I would always want to go back to my home country one day. Right now, working in Malaysia does not take me anywhere anymore.Salaries are the same but prices of food, petrol and rent are increasing day by day. Sad actually.. because, there is no way I am able to have any savings, so basically it will be like the malay saying "kais pagi , makan pagi, kais petang, makan petang." To live from hand to mouth."

It is quite sad to hear that The Tourism Ministry had spent RM1.8 million to start and maintain its Facebook page. I just don't get this. Even if it cost that much (which I doubt it) , why would you want to spend that HUGE sum of money to do that? Wouldn't it be better to use the money to improve the lifestyle of its own people first? There are so many deserving students who needs money to study but has no means to do that, there are people so poor that they are living in sheds and barely have enough money to survive or provide food on the table. Maybe by helping people in need would actually decrease the crime rates substantially. I don't blame people for stealing, or robbing, it is a crime no doubt, but these are actually desperate people who is only trying to survive in this world.

If only the government ask themselves this question "how can I help and benefit the people? "everytime they make a decision. Maybe that way, Malaysia would be in a better place and there won't be people trying to resist and condemn the government by moking the slogan "Cuti- Cuti Malaysia" to Curi Curi Malaysia".

Note to Self - Money Spoils Friendship.

Each month that the loan remains unpaid, you lose more hope on getting your money back. Consequently, feelings of anger and resentment towards your friend begins to consume you.

What should you do in this situation? Well, just remember you should only lend out money which you can afford to lose. If not, just forget about it coz it might just backfire and put you in debts instead. I'm done helping.

Have you ever wondered if God is giving you more than you can handle?

Sometimes I ask myself why did God throw some unexpected problems and situations in my life that would just break and tear me down. Why is he testing me all the time? Does he really think I'm strong enough to overcome it. I get my faith tested over and over again.. all the time... I do admit that I feel guilty for not praying to God as often as I should and I do treat God like "Santa Clause" most of the times...Only praying hard when I needed him the most.. and I really do feel guilty for doing that. I don't go to church each week, in fact I havent been in a church for years. But this does not mean that I have fall out or don't believe in God. I do.. Deep down, I really do trust God and Love him. Isn't that all that matters?

But why? The question we always ask ourselves.. why me God? Why did you not help me? Why did God let me suffer?

Even Mother Teresa faces problem and situations in her life. I had faced so many things in my life.. Some that I feel at that time, worth just dying. I am the way I am today because of all this. We blame God for everything bad happening in our lifes... Situations may seem like its never going to end, never going to be solved, no escape.. but trust me. It will.. eventually and years from now, you can look back and be proud of yourself that you managed to overcome all situations in your life.

Problems will always be there, it may involve you financially, emotionally, physically, mentally, in the workplace.. friends.. the list goes on and on and on.... Trust in God. God will make a way where there seems to be no way.

Just be strong, never give up.

It's Valentine's Day!! Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. February 14 has become the date for exchanging love messages and a celebration of St. Valentine, the patron saint of lovers. The date is marked by sending poems and simple gifts, such as flowers, to loved ones and secret loves. By far, Valentine's Day Flowers are the most popular gift today.

Valentine's Day is when you will see how outrages the prices of gifts, flowers and chocolates are and knowing that there are hopeless romantics out there spending a fortune just to show their love to their love ones. Love does make a person so blind and in love :-) Its a day to have an "excuse" to have new presents, so why not? :P

Allan and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day but this year, we decided to go to Sharaf and buy each other gifts!

One and a half year ago, Karen's beloved husband, her childhood sweetheart and father to the 2 children, Sean, was killed whilst serving in Afghanistan. The amount of work she has since done for families of those in the forces has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Having seen her gorgeous little boy, Oliver, who has Down's Syndrome, through some major health issues, Michelle has dedicated herself to helping other parents in similiar situations. She founded family voice Peterborough, which has helped families hugely by putting them in touch with local authorities. This year she started Little Miracles, a playgroup for disable children offering advise and support for parents.

From the moment Anne Marie moved to Dumfries in 1989 with her 4 year old daughter, she has commited herself to making life better for children in the area. She started by forming a junior group in the community centre. Soon she was petitioning the Council for an improved centre and they duly obliged. She would run the youth group in the evenings while working full time in the day. 170 children i now registered and she continues to give her heart and soul to the children and young people of Dumfries.
